Establishing the identity of London family law firm

A confident, modern approach
Newton Kearns are a brand new London law firm specialising in family law. They act for high net worth individuals in such areas as divorce, mediation and prenups. Their cases regularly involve high value and complex assets together with related and often delicate matters such as children.
The idea behind the brand was that they were a new practice with a modern approach, but at the same time it had to have an established feel as the partners were highly experienced in their field and would be competing against the best family law firms in London. The key qualities that the brand needed to convey were professionalism and confidence combined with a friendly approachability.
A high end finish
With this in mind we designed a dynamic looking marque that was quite different to traditional law firm logos. This was combined with complimentary typography for the full name logo that had a more restrained, orthodox feel. We developed a clean, contemporary look for the printed material with a considered approach to paper stock and printing techniques to ensure high end results that included debossed foil business cards.
A positive step forward
The website was designed to be straightforward and easy to navigate while incorporating a CMS. Clean page design with a contemporary layout mirrors the design approach taken with the branding and single Newton Kearns out from other law websites. The theme of the videos and photography, showing the sun emerging from clouds, was to engender a positive feel in visitors and suggest finding resolutions to difficult situations.
Brand creation and application
Having established the direction that a brand should take, we then begin the comprehensive process of brand creation. Things often start with sketches and lots of discussion, before moving into the digital realm where we work up our ideas for logo designs, sub-branding (such as patterns) and style of imagery – anything that will be part of the brand’s visual identity.
After further discussion and analysis of what ideas best fit with our strategy for the brand, we prepare the chosen designs for presentation to the client. Once the final choice has been selected, and undergone any fine tuning, we can proceed with the application of the brand – website, print items, adverts, marketing collateral – any touch point that is required.
