A law firm brand identity that promotes a confident modern approach.

Crate47 were engaged by Newton Kearns to create a law firm brand identity together with a website design to promote the new solicitors practice specialising in family law. Acting for high-net-worth individuals in such areas as divorce, mediation, and prenups, their cases regularly involve high-value and complex assets together with related and often delicate matters such as children.

The idea behind the brand strategy was that they were a new practice with a modern approach, but at the same time, the brand had to have an established feel as the partners were highly experienced in their field and would be competing against the best family law firms in London. The key qualities that the new law firm brand identity needed to convey were professionalism and confidence combined with a friendly approachability.

A high end finish, a positive step forward.

We designed a dynamic looking marque that was quite different from traditional law firm logo designs. This was combined with complimentary typography for the full name logo that had a more restrained look similar to a more orthodox law firm brand identity. We developed a clean, contemporary look for the printed material with due consideration to paper stock and printing techniques to ensure high-end results that included debossed foiling on the business cards.

The website was designed to be easy to navigate while incorporating a CMS. Clean page design with a contemporary layout follows the design approach determined by our branding and makes the Newton Kearns website stand out from the more traditional style of web design for solicitors. The theme of the videos and photography were key to the law firm brand identity. Showing the sun emerging from clouds, they engender a positive feeling and suggest finding resolutions to difficult situations.

Brand creation and brand activation.

Having established the direction that a law firm brand identity should take, we begin the comprehensive process of brand creation. Things often start with sketches and lots of discussion, before moving into the digital realm where we work up our ideas for logo designs, sub-branding (such as patterns), and style of imagery – anything that will be part of the brand’s visual identity.

After further discussion and analysis of what ideas best fit with our brand strategy, we prepare the chosen designs for presentation to the client. Once the final choice has been selected and undergone any fine-tuning, we can proceed with the brand application – website, print items, adverts, marketing collateral – any touch-points needed to activate a new law firm brand identity.
