Modern branding that retains a feeling of heritage
Hogarth Chambers are barristers with pre-eminence in intellectual property law (IP). We aimed to make the firm appear more approachable and forward thinking without losing the sense of heritage and traditions of an established chambers.
Clean and contemporary design
We developed a clean and contemporary written logo together with a simple marque, based on the shape of a traditional wax seal, that could be used independently. A modern blue colour was chosen to convey trustworthiness whilst light greys helped soften the branding. A repeat pattern of the marque was developed to be used across all media when sub-branding was required.
An uncluttered, user friendly website
With a strong emphasis on usability and clean, uncluttered design throughout we used clever CSS 3 animations to hide away a lot of the heavy content needed on a barrister chambers website. We also developed an animated search function, that enables the user the ability to filter the barristers by practice areas or surname.
Candid portrait photography conveys approachability
All photography on the website was undertaken by the Crate47 photography team. We used candid portraiture shots of the barristers sitting at their desks to portray a more relaxed appearance and emphasise their individual personalities.
Brand creation and application
Having established the direction that a brand should take, we then begin the comprehensive process of brand creation. Things often start with sketches and lots of discussion, before moving into the digital realm where we work up our ideas for logo designs, sub-branding (such as patterns) and style of imagery – anything that will be part of the brand’s visual identity.
After further discussion and analysis of what ideas best fit with our strategy for the brand, we prepare the chosen designs for presentation to the client. Once the final choice has been selected, and undergone any fine tuning, we can proceed with the application of the brand – website, print items, adverts, marketing collateral – any touch point that is required.
