With Crate47’s video for Liqui Group we wanted to encapsulate all the different aspects of what the company do in a short introductory film. This was not an easy thing to achieve; not only do they design and manufacture contract furniture and lighting, but they’re also engaged in various interior design projects for the commercial sector such as coffee shops and offices as well as managing the build and fit-out of many of them. To get across the breadth of their work we employed a variety of equipment and techniques including aerial videography and time-lapse photography.
To show their manufacturing capabilities we spent quite a bit of time capturing shots of Liqui’s various craftsmen engaged in traditional skills such as woodturning, metalwork and joinery. In contrast, we wanted to show the precision CNC work that also goes into the production of their furniture, lighting and interior fittings. As well as recording the workshop processes we followed the designers in the studio and the build teams working on location to get a day in the life feel. By combining this footage with shots of finished products and interiors, frame by frame, scene by scene we built up a rounded picture of everything the company are engaged in. This was brought together by the narration in an engaging and concise video that is an important part of Liqui’s marketing strategy.
Videos, such as ‘explainers’, are becoming very popular for companies to use for internal communications as well as project stories and shorts for their website. These also have the added benefit of being Google friendly.
